Looking to brighten up your kitchen for spring? Yes, according to the groundhog we still have six more weeks of winter, but that doesn’t mean we can’t make the best of it and get a head start on some fresh adjustments. The community of Old Town might be seeing some new faces around, if you haven’t spotted one already. Each semester Michigan State University’s School of Journalism sends a number of students to the Old Town area to cover local news as a part of their curriculum. This semester, Professor Geri Zeldes assigned eight students from her 300-level reporting class to cover Old Town news and happenings.

Local. Organic. Sustainable.   Nine months ago, Rhea Van Atta brought us the Old Town General Store that opened May 1, 2013. She returned to her roots in Old Town to bring Lansing a store that highlights Michigan products in addition to carrying local products and food. Old Town General Store specializes in local, sustainable and organic food. Customers will find local produce, eggs and milk from small vendors across the tri-county area, as well as products from all around the state of Michigan, including the U.P.

Dickens Village and the Scrooge Scramble 5K arrive in Old Town Lansing   LANSING, Mich. – This holiday season Old Town will transform its streets and businesses into a festive scene for the fourth annual Scrooge Scramble and the seventh annual Dickens Village. On Dec.7, the Scrooge Scramble will kick off at 10 a.m. followed by free holiday activities at Dickens Village from noon until 5 p.m.
