Although it is chilly outside, we are anxiously preparing for this year’s festivals. After last year’s incredible turn-outs, we could not be more excited to get moving! We are seeking motivated and passionate individuals interested in helping us make our events successful. Anyone interested is welcome to join the Promotions Committee, Design Committee, Economic Restructuring Committee, Organization Committee, Scrapfest Committee, the Root Group, Sun & Moon Committee, or Oktoberfest.

Two local Old Town businesses, Pruess Pets and Elderly Instruments, are being recognized for great customer service with a nomination for the Celebrated Service Award. This award is sponsored by Celebration! Cinema, BeeneGarter, Fifth Third Bank, and Zingerman’s, and celebrates the hard work, dedication and quality provided by the businesses and it's employees.

Alaina Kristoff is a junior at Michigan State University majoring in Advertising and specializing in Public Relations. She is a member of the Michigan State Undergraduate Communication Association and hopes to gain more experience in the field of communications during her internship at Old Town.  Alaina is also employed at the Spartan Bookstore and St. John Macomb Hospital.

Roll on into SPIN Bicycle Shop, a full service bicycle repair and retail joint that not only provides your specific biking needs but also a personal  vibe that’s sure to make you a regular. The shop opened in the winter of 2008 at 1214 Turner Street, now home to Katalyst Gallery, and has since moved to its new location at 206 E. Grand River Ave. This space is ideal for a retail and repair shop due to the open floor plan.

It’s obvious that Old Town prides itself on the unique and often eclectic storefronts, gifts, and art works; so it comes to no surprise when a passerby spots a giant cupcake sculpture in front of the local bakery. Aggie Mae’s Bakery and Sweet Shoppe celebrates it’s one year anniversary in Old Town this February after opening is second location. With homemade pastries, artisan breads, quiches, cookies, and cheesecakes we dare you to stop your mouth from watering after stepping foot into Aggie Mae’s.

Arts and creativity have defined Old Town Lansing for years and the Old Town Commercial Association (OTCA) is continuing to enhance the innovative art community through the installation of two sculptures produced at their annual event Old Town Scrapfest. These sculptures entitled Sound Junkie and Building CommUnity launch the beginning of a sculpture garden initiative.

Interested in getting more involved with the OTCA? Well we have the perfect opportunity for you. OTCA is seeking four new board members to fill seats starting in February. These positions are available to OTCA members who work, live or own property in Old Town. Additionally we have one "At-Large" position available for someone who is active in Old Town but doesn't fit the previous requirement. The Board of Directors consists of 11 members in total.
