The Old Town Commercial Association is excited to welcome another new business to the neighborhood! On May 3, the Old Town General Store, located next to Preuss Pets at 408 E. Grand River, officially opened its doors to the public. Store owner Maria Van Atta said with the start of this new business, she hopes to fill a void in Old Town, which currently has no grocery store. Van Atta said she chose to open her store in Old Town because it’s where she grew up, and she fell in love with this particular building because of its appealing aesthetics.

Old Town is cleaning, greening and preening our district to get ready for festival season! Come down to Old Town on May 4 with your gloves, shovel, trash bags and other cleaning materials to pitch in during our Spring Community Clean Up, and help us keep Old Town a great place to live, work and play! We need your help to pick up trash, sweep sidewalks, plant flowers, place hanging baskets and take care of other general maintenance. If you’re interested in lending a helping hand, stop by Turner Mini Park from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
