Dickens Village and the Scrooge Scramble 5K arrive in Old Town Lansing
LANSING, Mich. – This holiday season Old Town will transform its streets and businesses into a festive scene for the fourth annual Scrooge Scramble and the seventh annual Dickens Village. On Dec.7, the Scrooge Scramble will kick off at 10 a.m. followed by free holiday activities at Dickens Village from noon until 5 p.m.

As always, the First Fridays event encourages restaurants, galleries, shops and family events in the Greater Lansing area to feature extended hours, special events, unique specials, extended hours and entertainment. First Fridays’ goal is to help people to explore everything that Greater Lansing has to offer.

We feel that six months and a lot of sweat, laughter, discussions, the Aha! moments and sometimes tears are worth celebrating. Not to mention all the new friends we have made and the strong bonds we are cultivating with our local vendors and neighbors.
Without mentioning names, I want to thank all my loved ones (you know who you are) for always standing by my side and helping me throughout this whole process.

On Friday, November 1, 2013, the Greater Lansing area will be once again rolling out the red carpet for First Fridays. First Fridays is a unique and fun event that brings all businesses and residents of Greater Lansing together for a fun time out on the town.

Halloween is just around the corner and Pruess Pets is kicking off the holiday with the sixth annual Tarantula Night. Michigan’s arachno- event of the year is back on Oct. 27 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. This free event will host tarantulas and tarantula enthusiast from around the greater Lansing area, book signings, arachnid stories, prizes, and games.

An event honoring the memory of Robert P. Busby, “The Mayor of Old Town”
THE OCCASION: Artist Maureen Bergquist Gray has completed a sculpture memorializing Busby, a dear friend to her and countless artists, musicians, business folks, the LGBT community, politicians, entrepreneurs, the disenfranchised and the disadvantaged. He was murdered in 2007 but his legacy lives on in Old Town, a neighborhood that he helped transform into the thriving, funky destination it is today.

Students execute kickstarter project in preparation of launching new program, Social Impact Consulting
On Friday, Aug. 23, the Old Town Commercial Association (OTCA) welcomed 51 first-year, full-time Michigan State University MBA program students. These students contributed 150 collective services hours by executing community clean-up projects throughout the district.
