Old Town Scrapfest
Up to 10,000 lbs of metal. Up to 20 teams. 2 weeks. 1 scrap facility. Yeah, it’s intense.
Teams have an hour to collect up to 500 pounds of scrap from Friedland Industries’ scrap facility on Saturday, May 30th. During the next two weeks teams must execute their masterpiece. The unique sculptures, made entirely of scrap metal material, will be put on display at the festival. This unique event is not only Old Town’s coolest art events, it is one of Lansing’s greenest.
We also began to incorporate Artisan Booths into Scrapfest. Anyone can apply for an Artisan Booth and the Scrapfest committee will contact you once a decision has been made.
40% of the proceeds from the Scrapfest competition auction goes to the artists, and another portion will be donated to the Old Town Commercial Association (OTCA) to further their mission of community and economic development in Lansing’s historic and artistic Old Town. For more information on Scrapfest, please call the OTCA office at 517.485.4283.
