What is my style?
Natural. Colorful. Candid. Relaxed.
I love photographing expressions you recognize and cherish about your loved ones...a little smirk, a big smile or laugh.
For me, photography is not about backgrounds and perfect poses, it's about capturing your loved ones the way you remember them at that moment in time. I photograph details like tiny toes, long eyelashes, bright eyes, and special smiles. These details are what we long to hold images of, long after our children are grown...and this is what I want to capture for you.
The Art & Soul of Photography
Everything I see is a photograph - an old barn, fuzz on a newborn baby, the shine in a child's eyes, a golden sunset. Even when I don't have my camera, I'm still taking pictures in my mind. That's why I know I'll be a photographer forever. It's part of who I am, and I love it.
Details:
Securing your date
Your session fee must be paid within 5 days of booking your appointment. This will secure your session date.
**Please note: If the temperature exceeds the low 80's on the day of your outdoor session, I may choose to reschedule - trust me...you'll be much happier on a cooler day.
Choosing a location
You choose your portrait location. Whether it’s in the comfort of your own home, at a favorite park, or in my studio...it’s your choice! If you can’t decide, I’m happy to offer suggestions.
Your Session
During your session I’ll chat with you and get to know your family first. There is no time limit and no rush. Sessions can last from 30 minutes to two hours. I prefer to let children be themselves and I don’t do a lot of posing. I’m more interested in capturing natural, candid expressions including "non-smiling" faces. I also use creative cropping and artistic angles. If you prefer something more traditional and posed, please let me know *before* your session begins. Otherwise, we’ll talk, play and go with the moment!
After your session
My work continues. I carefully select a group of images that best represents your family or child(ren). I review each image and make any enhancements or touch-ups necessary to make every single portrait a beautiful one.
You will view your images and choose your prints during an appointment which occurs approximately three weeks after your portrait session. Your finished prints will be ready three weeks after your order is placed.

My pricing reflects the quality of your entire experience with Art & Soul Photography. From the session planning to the final product, you’ll receive one-on-one attention and finished portraits that are far superior to any chain store. Heirloom-quality products are used to create your portraits, so they'll last for generations to come.
Repeat Clients
Families grow and change quickly! Repeat clients who have had an Art & Soul session in less than 12 months will receive $20.00 off their next session, and 15% off their prints.
Please note: Policies are subject to change at any time without notice (sounds harsh, I know...I hate being harsh so read it as one of those technicalities instead).

**Locations more than 20 miles outside of Lansing will be subject to travel fees (within reason). I do travel to out of state clients.
