Now you can feel twice as good about recycling. Not only are you doing something great for the environment but you can also support local art!
Local artist Tom Sheerin teamed up with Freidland Industries for SCRAP (Support Community Recycling Art Program). The project will help fund public art projects such as murals and sculptures around the Lansing area.
It is easy to donate –recycle any scrap metal or paper to Freidland Industries on the corner of Maple and Center St. and tell the attendant at the scale you would like to donate your proceeds to the SCRAP fund. Any little bit helps. For more information on this program contact Tom at 517.862.3337.
The OTCA has created a new partnership with VanAtta’s Greenhouse to have mums and gardening supplies delivered to your business’s front door. While in Old Town on a Saturday afternoon, Jennifer Estill from Redhead Design Studio was lamenting the fact that she didn’t have the time nor a vehicle to pick up soil, mulch and plants to spruce up the exterior of her building. Following a meeting with VanAtta’s, the problem was solved!
Any OTCA member businesses in Old Town is able to place an order through the OTCA to have mums, soil and/or mulch delivered to your front door. By placing a bulk order, VanAtta’s has agreed to make the delivery and give great prices.
In addition to the opportunity to order for fall, we’ll also be taking orders in the near future for wreaths, greenery and garland to dress up your storefront for the holidays, as well as in the spring and mid-summer for annuals and other supplies.
If you are interested in mums, please complete the order form. Orders must be submitted to the OTCA by September 12 for the fall, with a delivery planned the week of September 15 - just before Bluesfest.
The OTCA is seeking an AmeriCorps VISTA employee to start November 21. The VISTA will aid in Old Town’s revitalization by serving as the Market Master for the Farmers Market, creating and implementing a comprehensive beautification and planting plan, helping to spread Old Town’s growth to the surrounding neighborhoods, working with volunteers and more.

In 32 years, the three women of Cornell Baldwin Interiors have crafted beautiful interior design solutions on all types of projects. From decorating a yacht to picking colors for a commercial carwash and matching attendant uniforms-these ladies have done it all.
Jan Baldwin, Jan Cornell-Campbell and Debbie Faculak have been working together at Cornell Baldwin Interiors from the very beginning, since they opened their first office in 1976 in Mason. After a spending time in offices on Lake Lansing Rd., in South Lansing and on Michigan Ave., next to the rescue mission, Cornell Baldwin moved to their current location in Old Town in 2003.
Cornell Baldwin does residential and commercial interior design in all styles. Jan Cornell-Campbell admits she loves modern design while Debbie has more traditional taste, but their clients would never know. The Cornell Baldwin philosophy is to go into a clients home or business and design it to look like they were never there. They listen to the clients to make sure that the design reflects their personal style and that the client feels comfortable in their new space.
Surely you’ve walked past their office and stopped to admire their beautiful window displays which seem to change with the seasons, but the clients reviews are the true testiment to their success. Cornell Baldwin has been working on a referral basis for the last 32 years and their good work has rewarded them with many new and returning clients over the years.
If you’d like more information on Cornell Baldwin Interiors give Jan, Debbie or Jan a call at 517.482.9480 or just stop in.
